A Little about my process Each work is crafted by hand by Richie Lopez in Philadelphia. I specialize in high quality heirloom Weaving and Embroidery art for the home collector & hospitality industries. I use mindfully sourced high quality materials for each piece. My woven pieces are created on either my rigid heddle table loom or my 1977 LeClerc Artisat Jack Loom. Embroidery work is all done by hand, stitch by stitch.

Who is the Art for?

Is this a gift for yourself? A Loved one? Are you commissioning a piece for a home or for a hospitality client? Each commissioner has different needs and expectations and knowing this information allows me to more easily navigate how to proceed.

What is your budget?

To better serve your needs it is helpful to know what you’re comfortable spending on your commission. Many factors affect the final price of a piece, however the most important one is time. Weaving and Embroidery take many hours to complete. From drafting to execution and final touches, a piece can take sometimes over a week to finish. As an artist I would love for you to know the joys of having original art in your home or space and will do everything I can to provide you with your dream artwork within your budget. This may mean changing design expectations, materials or size of the piece. Once we have come to an agreement on pricing we can proceed from there.

Here are some FAQ’s that might be helpful in the commission process.

After I have reviewed your form, I will send you a message with more info and more questions if needed. Together we’ll work on the pre-design for your artwork.
I usually rough sketch something up digitally to send your way so you can get an idea of what the piece will look like.
When we are both in agreement about time, design and dates I will send you an invoice for half the cost of the commission.
Once payment is received I will begin working on your art commission!
This one is particular and case by case. My pricing is determined by size, the amount of time it takes to create the work, the medium and materials. If you’re looking for a ballpark most commissions start around $500 and go up from there. (This or course is subject to details)
I can currently only ship within the US.
Unless otherwise noted, shipping is a cost paid by the commissioner. Once the artwork is finished I will weigh the work within its shipping container (which varies based on the art) and send you shipping estimates from various carriers. I mostly use USPS & FedEx. After you have chosen your shipping method I will invoice you for the shipping cost and ship it as promptly as possible.
If you are in the Philadelphia area and would like to pick up your piece in person I would be happy to schedule a studio visit where you can come collect your artwork!
Note* Richie Lopez is not liable for the unlikely shipping mishap, including delays and lost items. While this is something that I sincerely hope never happens it is not within my ability to assist with shipped items once they are no longer in my possession.
At this time I can’t accept returns on commissioned work.
In most cases I will create an “item” on the websites shop. This will be private to you and I will send you a link where you can complete the payment. In other cases we can discuss different payment options.
At this time I cannot fulfill wholesale requests. This may change in the future as i get better at production.
